Nordheim Hut

Located in The Gungarlin Valley.

Brief History

A small hut built by Bryan Haig and Kore Grunnsund in 1976 which was accidentally burnt down in 1979.

Others who helped in its construction were Otto Pinkas, Renzo Dalmaso and Ken Baxter.

Otto and Gina Pinkas subsequently bought out Bryan Haig's share of Nordheim and Otto and Kore ran the lodge until the fire in 1979.

Grunnsund and Haig were under pressure from NPWS from the start, and following a falling out went their separate ways. Gunnsund built a small hut "Katingal" and Haig went on to build Bogong Lodge.
