Schlinks she said.
Me thinks that’s where I need to make some nature links.
Brought a mate, we speak of love. life and all things fate.
We ran to Ngarigo. The best place we know how.
We hike through the clouds up to the hut.
If only the rain gave a f$@#.
But with the weekend in hand and 2 days to plan.
We ran and ran to whites up the duct.
And we were in luck
Just like that a grand Kossie master formidable in sight.
Shared his wisdom like an old snowy gum
We only wished that he is what we would become.
Over the ridge and up the floral fun
We pushed onto the rolling grounds of boulders
Standing on dicky bogongs shoulders
Here is where we would shout
“What on earth is the world on about?”
Rush and fuss but here we were.
Climbing over boulders debating the value of a blur
Rocks and blocks as big as a man’s ego,
But she goes. She does. she goes on up and up and over.
Over there, to the east we spot our Hilton at our bequest
Down the mountain we ran as fast as rain
After all the ridgeline was only to be slain
Light little steps apologised to the moss
Remembering that Mother Nature is our boss
To the hut we arrived, watery welcome beside.
Cut the wood, light the fire, come in quickly, warmth is what we aspire.
Pants off Saturdays was in motion
Jet boils were our commotion.
Big meals in our tum, the drum of dreams were quickly upon us.
Cosy quarters were a must.
The cold mist descended hard and fast
Rain poured. Wind shook but it didn’t last.
A throne fit for a queen that would leave you green.
I sat and pondered.
Pensive in thought.
Kosciuszko is what my soul sought.
