Wanted: flattened or whole kerosene/oil cans for rebuilding Vickery’s Chaff shed.

Many original huts used flattened kerosene cans as a protective cladding. Kerosene was used to fuel lamps and the empty cans weren’t wasted!

Vickery’s log hut was built in 1939 by Noel and Ross Vickery on Jounama Creek in what is now Kosciuszko National Park. Vickery’s is one of 11 huts that were burnt in the 2020 bushfires that are being rebuilt by the NPWS with assistance of KHA and associated families.
